Organizers tell Action News nearly 1,000 players have signed up to participate this year. With plenty of out-of-towner, visiting the cityhelping to boost the local economy.
Contestant Abbie Myers is hoping she can make it to the top. She's been coming since the event started and told us she looks forward to each year.
"You see people you haven't seen in a while and get to hang out and watch basketball which a lot of people like around here", said Abbie Myers.
Some of the proceeds will go towards bringing visitors to the Yakima Valley through the tourism board. Since the tournament started it has almost doubled in size.
