Heritage University event raises record $843K for scholarship funding
TOPPENISH, Wash. -- Heritage University is celebrating a successful fundraiser where a record $843,500 was raised for scholarships.
270 generous guests donated the staggering amount at the university's recent Bounty of the Valley Scholarship Dinner on Saturday, June 3.
The annual event has raised more than $4 million since it began 31 years ago.
"All that money goes directly to student scholarships," said the university's fundraiser Dana Eliason. "We have a separate operating budget to put this event on, so all of that money raised - that's what's so important about that evening, is the people in the room feel really good about what they're doing."
The event raised $674, 350 last year. Fundraiser organizers said they are grateful for the donations and are aiming for $1 million next year.
