Heritage University announces new president
TOPPENISH, Wash. - Heritage University has named a new president after long-time president Dr. John Bassett has announced his retirement.
Heritage announced Andrew C. Sund Ph.D. was appointed President for the University May 25, 2017 and is set to start July 1, 2017 following an eight-month search by a selection committee.
According to a news release, Dr. Sund is currently the president of St. Augustine College in Chicago, IL.
Dr. Sund is replacing Dr. John Bassett who has announced his retirement last fall. Dr. Bassett served as President of Heritage from 2010 to 2017.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to build upon the legacy that my two exceptional predecessors have established. I know of few institutions in all of higher education with a mission as meaningful and as important as is Heritage’s," Dr. Sund said on his choice to become a candidate for the position.
Officials at Heritage said Dr. Sund was responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the institution as president of St. Augustine in 2008.
“Dr. Sund’s rich experience and track record as a scholar and leader in higher education will be an asset to Heritage as it continues to build on its reputation of providing relevant, meaningful education to the people of the Yakima Valley," said Heritage University board member and chairman of the selection committee, Pat Oshie.
