Grandview celebrates affordable housing developments

GRANDVIEW, Wash. -- A day of celebration in Grandview. Two new housing developments. One just beginning and the other ready to go.

Two local non-profits broke ground on a new affordable housing development and dedicated the completion of another.

Catholic Charities Housing Services kicked off the construction of seven single-family homes. The Bishop of Yakima was there.

Down the road, Genesis Housing Services hailed the completion of 41 units for about 160 people.

Orfelinda Diaz moved into her new home a few months ago. "Well, it's really comfortable living here," she said. "And, my family likes it too. My kids like it because of the playgrounds. They just love being all over."

Construction on the new homes is expected to be done by next fall.
