Gas station clerk shot and injured during attempted robbery

WALLA WALLA -- Detectives are hunting for a shooting suspect who is still on the loose after injuring a store clerk Tuesday night in Walla Walla. The store clerk underwent surgery for a bullet wound and was in satisfactory condition Wednesday.

It happened around 9:45pm Tuesday night. Authorities tell KEPR it was an attempted robbery at the Chevron gas station on Isaacs Ave.

Police say two male suspects entered the store with their faces covered. One was armed with a handgun, and demanded cash.

While the clerk was complying with the request, she was shot.. The bullet passed through her arm and into her abdomen. Her name and condition have not yet been released, but police say she was conscious when they arrived at the scene.

Walla Walla officials tell Action News the suspects got away in a white Cadillac. But they have only a vague description of who they are looking for.

Officers remain on the scene processing the crime scene, as well as out searching for the suspect.
