Four survive car crash at Forsell and Hornby Road intersection

GRANDIVEW, Wash. - A driver's failure to stop at a sign near Grandview caused a crash in which a pickup rolled into a ditch.

Reports from the Yakima County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) said driver Renee Selander, 74, of Sunnyside was heading east on Forsell Road in a 2013 Subaru Legacy when at 12:50 a.m. Monday, a 1993 Ford Ranger pickup at Hornby Road did not stop at the intersection stop sign.

Selander's vehicle hit the passenger side of the pickup causing it to roll at least once and land in a ditch, reports said.

19-year-old Geraldo Alvarez, of Sunnyside, was driving the pickup with two passengers: a 16-year-old and an 11 month old infant.

The infant and Alvarez were not injured in the crash, but the 16-year-old passenger was checked for cuts on her face from broken glass, according to responders.

Medics also took Selander to a Prosser hospital with no serious injuries.

Authorities cited Alvarez for negligent driving.
