Fewer fugitives arrested in 2013

YAKIMA, TRI-CITIES, Wash. -- Action News is always staying on top of local crime. We learned a couple crime categories are dropping.

For both Yakima and Tri-Cities, the U.S. Marshals Service caught 20 percent fewer fugitives last year than the year prior. Last year's numbers extend through November.

Also, warrants cleared for narcotics arrests went down by over 50 percent. Officials from other agencies say that's because of the legalization of pot.

The U.S. Marshals Service partners with local agencies to crack down on criminals.
