Duo charged with slashing elderly Realtor's throat plead not guilty

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Both people charged with trying to kill an elderly Yakima Realtor both pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday.

Luis Gomez-Monges and Adriana Mendez are charged with 1st degree attempted murder and assault.

They are accused of beating Vernon Holbrook and slashing his throat.

Mendez told police she and Gomez-Monges made up names and set up a home tour specifically with the 78-year-old.

Holbrook was transferred from a Seattle hospital over the weekend to another medical facility for further treatment.

A trial date is set for July.
