Drug agents find $1M worth of drugs on bus in Oregon
REDMOND, Ore. (AP) - Drug enforcement agents in central Oregon found more than 23 pounds of heroin and methamphetamine with a street value of more than $1 million when they stopped a bus on U.S. Route 97 north of Redmond.
KTVZ-TV reports there were no immediate arrests.
Lt. Ken Mannix works with the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team. He says the northbound Frontera Del Norte bus was stopped Wednesday. Before the bus was pulled over in Oregon, Mannix says detectives learned that a man who had been on board got off at a scheduled northern California stop and ran when police tried to contact him.
A Redmond police drug detection dog was brought in to help search bus luggage. The drugs were found in two pieces of luggage.
Mannix says the investigation continues.
