Driving Safe During The Winter
YAKIMA, Wash.- Nearly 6,000 people are killed and 500,000 people are injured in weather-related crashes each year according to Road Weather Management Program.
The Highway Administration reports 70 percent of the Nation's roads are located in snowy regions. With snowy road conditions already hitting several places in Washington, state patrol officials urge you to stay safe while on the road.
"Right now the best thing that you can do is have good tires on your vehicle, and have a vehicle that performs well in the snow if you're going to be driving in really bad snowy conditions. Also, keep your gas tank full this time of year, the last thing you want when you are going through the pass and the pass is closed is running out of fuel," said Sarah Clasen, Washington State Patrol Trooper.
You can check how the road conditions are in your area by visiting the Washington State Department of Transportation website.
