Driver injured when semi-truck goes into embankment off I-82

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- Washington State Patrol says a man received minor injuries Tuesday when the semi-truck he was driving went over a guardrail and into an embankment off Interstate 82 near Union Gap.

Troopers say the man was driving on the exit from I-82 to southbound U.S. 97 around 3 p.m. when his truck left the roadway. As he tried to correct it, the vehicle hit a guardrail and went down the embankment.

The truck was not hauling a trailer at the time of the crash, and no fuel spilled.

The accident did briefly slow traffic in the area.
