Design team wants public input on Downtown Yakima plaza

YAKIMA, Wash. -- People hired to design a new plaza in Downtown Yakima checked things out Thursday. They met with local business owners to get some ideas of what people want.

One idea that's been controversial is expanding Millennium Plaza. Another idea would convert the parking lot southeast of Second Street and Sergeant Pendleton Way.

Downtown business owners are glad to share their thoughts.

"It's nice that they're asking people about what they want, get an idea of what things can work well in this town and get a variety of inputs from different people," said Pres Tuesley.

The designers will use their ideas and more feedback from a public meeting Thursday night at the Seasons Performance Hall. Formal surveys will be available there.
