Deputies: Woman running back & forth across I-90

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. -- Sheriff's deputies arrested a woman who was running back and forth across I-90 Sunday afternoon.

Here's the report from the sheriff's office:

About 1:30 PM Sunday afternoon motorists called to report a female running through traffic on I-90 near Easton, throwing rocks at cars and running in front of vehicles. A motorists stopped traffic and a US Forrest Service Officer attempted to calm the woman, who continued running away from him. The Forest Service Officer, fearing for the woman's safety, finally tacked her in the median and held her until deputies arrived. The woman, identified as 29 year old Yvonne Allen of Easton, fought with the deputies until secured in an ambulance. She was transported to the hospital in Ellensburg and later booked into the county jail for disorderly conduct.

Per Undersheriff Myers, "We were very fortunate that neither this woman, or any of the motorists were injured. We commend the unknown motorist who stopped traffic and Forrest Service Officer Scott for their actions, which may have saved this woman's life. The corrections staff will be working with the court and Mental Health professionals to get her the help she needs".
