Deputies say body of missing Klickitat River rafter found

KLICKITAT COUNTY, Wash. -- Klickitat County deputies say they believe they have recovered the body of a missing Oregon man.

41-year-old Steven Revier of Hood River had not been seen since his raft overturned on the Klickitat River earlier this month.

The Klickitat County Sheriff's Office says it received a report of a man's body in the river around 4 p.m. Saturday, about a mile upstream from the Summit Creek Bridge. Because of the difficult terrain, a rope rescue team was sent in to recover the body.

Deputies say they believe the body is that of Revier.

Revier and friend Chad Saunders were traveling down the river near the Yakima County line May 17 when their raft flipped. Saunders was able to make it to shore and report the incident, but Revier did not reach the shore.
