Two of three juveniles in Wiley City Market armed robbery will be tried as adults
UPDATE: Two of the three juvenile suspects from the Wiley city market robbery will be facing first degree robbery charges as adults in the Yakima superior court.
Police say Gabriel Aragon and Hipolito Espinoza were part of the robbery happened on June 27th when they stole about six hundred dollars before they were arrested.
Court documents say that Aragon walked into the store with a silver pistol when the robbery started and Espinoza was a block away in a getaway vehicle.
Both are above the age of 15 and prosecuting attorney Joe Brusic said that made all the difference in what court they would appear in.
"Once we decide that we are going to charge them with first degree robbery based upon the evidence that has been submitted by law enforcement, then we look at their age and ask the court to ultimately bring them down to adult court," he said.
There was a third suspect that was arrested with them but he will be tried as a juvenile because he is 15 years old.
Brusic also says Aragon and Espinoza can end up being tried as juveniles if the courts decide to make any revisions to the charges they are facing.
Aragon's bail is set at $125,000 and Espinoza bail is set at $100,000. Both of them will make their next court appearance on July 17th.
