Crews investigate house fire in West Valley

YAKIMA FIRE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE -- Yakima Fire responded to a reported Structure fire on 70th Avenue.

First arriving crew were met by occupants, who stated that everyone was out of the residence (2 adults, 1 in wheel chair).

The fire crew found fire in the east end, laudry area of the residence. They made an exterior attack until other crews arrive.

Crews then attacked the fire aggressively inside the residence. Fire had extented through most of the residence and into the attic area.

Crews contained the fire within 45 minutes of arrival. The residence took extensive overhaul due to the extent of fire damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The structure received extensive damage to the back, laudry area, with heat and smoke damage throughout. The attic area also received fire and smoke damage. Damage is estimated at $95,000.
