Council member Carmen Mendez arrested for DUI according to Yakima Police
YAKIMA, Wash.--KIMA obtained information on the crash involving council member Carmen Mendez.
Police records show Mendez was arrested for DUI after she rear ended a car at the intersection of 16th Avenue and Tieton Drive Sunday night.
Police records also show Mendez's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit after authorities conducted a breathalyzer test.
According to police, Mendez was released from custody later that night and given a courtesy ride home.
Yakima County prosecutor Joe Brusic says he's asking the Washington State Patrol to review the case to avoid a potential conflict of interest with Yakima Police.
