Cops launch manhunt for suspect in Grant County shooting
QUINCY, Wash. -- Police are hunting for a 20-year-old Quincy resident suspected of shooting a man found Friday morning in an orchard about two miles west of the town.
According to the Grant County Sheriff's Office, the victim was found alive around 7:30 a.m.in an orchard along Highway 28 West. He had been shot multiple times in the stomach and was flown to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee where his current condition is unknown.
Police suspect Arnoldo Mendoza in the shooting. According to the Sheriff's Office, his pickup truck drove off from the scene and was found abandoned a short time later. It is unclear how Mendoza knew the victim.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Mendoza should be considered armed and dangerous. Police dogs, as well as a U.S. Border Patrol helicopter and Washington State Patrol airplane, are currently searching for him.
