YAKIMA, Wash. - Representatives from the Computer & Communications Industry Association are hosting a free event that could help some folks who are feeling nervous about preparing their taxes.

Industry leaders will host a free tax preparation awareness event at the Yakima Central Library, Friday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Attendees can learn about free tax preparation options through the IRS Free File program and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

The Free File program provides free federal income tax prep and e-filing services for those who earn a lower or moderate income.

Community and industry leaders will also be available to answer questions and provide information about free online and in-person tax preparation resources in the area.

Congressman Dan Newhouse was scheduled to host the event, but announced he will instead be in Washington D.C. due to pending House of Representative votes.

The event is open to the public, according to a news release from the congressman.
