Community mourns Yakima man shot inside car
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Community members gathered Tuesday afternoon to remember Carlos Guerrero, the 27-year-old fatally shot in his car last Friday night.
Family and friends were at the Moment of Blessing, near the intersection of North 4th and Cherry avenues where Guerrero was shot in his car outside a home.
Yakima police said there are still no suspects or motive.
Guerrero's sister said he was a family man and hard worker who did construction at the Sun Tower Retirement Home in Yakima.
The Yakima Association of Churches and Faith Communities organized the remembrance ceremony.
"We had some family members here today and they were obviously very grieving, and so it was important I think for us to be here to let the family members and the community members know that there's a wider community that cares and that they're not alone at this time in their grief," said Minister Ken Jones of Unitarian Universalist Church of Yakima.
Guerrero leaves behind a six-year-old daughter. His death is the city's seventh homicide of the year.
