City council finalizes 2018 budget
YAKIMA, Wash. - The city now has a set budget for 2018 and they'll be spending millions more of your tax dollars than this year.
Council members voted 5 to 1 to pass the preliminary budget proposed without any changes.
The budget estimates the city will spend about $239 million, but bring in about $7 million less.
The budget focuses on city projects and improving public safety by fixing roads and sidewalks.
With the budget, the city will spend about $26 million more than in 2017.
