Children meet their favorite cartoon character and learn about community care
YAKIMA, Wa. -- Many families are out at the Yakima Valley Museum to meet their favorite cartoon character.
Parents and their children had the chance to take pictures with Daniel Tiger from the cartoon show Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and learn from local community organizations.
Director of Marketing and Communications from a local PBS station Kelsey Tomascheski says this event is put together by PBS to teach children the importance of taking care of your community.
“It’s all about community and being a good community member, being a good member of the neighborhood so we want kids to learn about how to get involved with their community as well as meet a very special guest," said Tomascheski.
“I want to be like Daniel Tiger because he does good things for the neighborhood," said a child at the event.
Admission to the event was free as long as the families brought in canned food items which will get donated to local food banks.
Tomascheski says they are hoping to be back again next year.
