Bus drivers from state compete in rodeo in Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Bus drivers from all over Washington were competing for the number one spot in Yakima Sunday. It was part of the state school bus rodeo competition.

Top bus drivers from each Education Service District get chosen to compete in the rodeo. They get scored on different obstacles. That includes parallel parking, curbside parking and tight turns.

The competition is done to promote safety and for fun.

"It just helps me to be a better driver," said Selah School District Bus Driver Debbie Mcguire. "It just opens my eyes to what I'm supposed to be doing every day."

Drivers from Selah and Sunnyside were chosen to participate for our district. One winner will be chosen to head to nationals. That winner will be announced Sunday night.
