Burning Thanksgiving calories for a good cause

YAKIMA, Wash. -- This morning people in Yakima had the chance to work off their Thanksgiving dinner for a good cause.

More than 300 people showed up to the 4th Annual Leftover Turkey Trot at the Yakima Greenway. Proceeds from the 5k benefit both development at the Greenway and Camp Prime Time, which gives children with special needs the chance to enjoy camping and the outdoors.

Every year supporters find the holidays is a perfect time for the community to give back.

"The families that use camp prime time maybe aren't as lucky, they have a few more challenges and so it's a way for them to give back to an organization that does some wonderful things for some special people in our communities," said Cecile Anson, Camp Prime Time Executive Director.

The greenway uses the money to grow and maintain the trails.
