Wildfire smoke causes burn ban in Yakima County until further notice
YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. - Outdoor burning is prohibited in Yakima County due to poor air quality.
Pollution Control officers have issued a Stage 1 burn ban in Yakima County for August 1, 4 p.m. in the upper and lower Yakima County areas.
The burn ban was called as wildfires have caused smoke to reduce air quality in the area, according to the YRCAA Air Pollution Control Officer.
Outdoor burning, including agricultural burning, is not allowed during the ban. Any violations could result in a civil penalty.
Restrictions may differ within the exterior boundaries of the Yakama Reservation.
YRCAA said the ban is issued until air quality improves and conditions could change rapidly. Updates will be provided as available.
