Brighter lights going up in downtown Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. -- More decorative are going up in Downtown Yakima. Crews started adding LED lights to trees on side streets from 8th Street to Front Street. Old lights will be taken off a hundred trees. The city said the LED lights should last a couple of years. Some streets will have new, colored lights. The $10,000 price tag is being paid by the Downtown Yakima Business Improvement District.

"Lights add a flare to the night time and I think it also adds to the security as well because it brightens up the streets," said Ron's Coin & Collectibles owner, Joe Mann.

The project should take about a week to complete.
