Beautify Yakima one flower at a time

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima has plans to improve the appearance of downtown. A project to add flowers and planters will be put into place to beautify the business community.

Yakima will also continue to provide prompt graffiti removal service to keep the area clean. A $15,000 grant will be used to encourage businesses to add more landscaping. Businesses KIMA spoke with believe it'll help attract more customers.

"I'm definitely a proponent for beautification laws. I really like downtown and seeing improvements here. I think it'll bring a lot of business especially with all the tourism that we get and hopefully it'll improve that tourism," said Second Street Grill Manager, Matthew Buchanann.

Yakima plans to add the flowers and planters in front of businesses in the beginning of May.
