Baseball teams play ball in Yakima this weekend

YAKIMA, Wash. -- With spring time here, what better time is there to sit out and watch sports at the parks?

Around 50 baseball teams across the Northwest showed up in Yakima this weekend for a tournament. Teams ranged from nine to fourteen years old. Games were held at the Kiwanis and Gateway fields. Hundreds of family and friends from out of town spent the weekend in Yakima to support the teams.

Coaches said it was a great way to keep kids active.

"It gives them something to do and something, a way to keep them out of trouble," said Warriors Baseball Coach, Michael McCrite. "Like my guys, if they're not playing baseball then they're maybe at home playing video games or doing whatever, they're bored."

This is one of the largest events held at Kiwanis Park so far.
