Baby born on Bainbridge-Seattle ferry run

SEATTLE -- The ferry M/V Tacoma arrived in Seattle with one more passenger than it had when it left the Bainbridge Island dock Thursday afternoon.

A woman went into labor about 10 minutes into the ferry crossing, said Kyle Moore with Seattle Fire. But lucky for the soon-to-be mom, there was a mid-wife, two EMTs and a physician's assistant traveling on board who all joined in to help.

Baby Lucy was safely delivered and baby, mom, and all the other passengers arrived on time in Seattle, said ferry spokeswoman Marta Coursey.

The medics took the woman to Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. We're told both Lucy and mom were in good condition.

Lucy is the woman's second child.
