Autopsy scheduled for man's body found in pond near Toppenish

TOPPENISH, Wash. -- Yakima County Sheriff's officials now say the body discovered in a pond near Toppenish Sunday appears to be that a man. The body's gender had not been previously released.

An autopsy has been scheduled for the body on Tuesday. However, officials have already determined that the man was apparently shorter, with a slim build.

Duck hunters found the body Sunday in a pond near Meyers Road.

Deputies believe the body has been there for weeks and was just found because the water level in the pond had receded.
