Annual fundraiser raises over $60,000 for three local charities
YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- Three local charities were awarded over $20,000 each on Wednesday.
This is the eighth year for Sort 4 the Cause, an annual cow sorting event in Sunnyside.
This year, riders raised money for Children's Wishes and Dreams, Wellness House and Heartlinks Hospice & Palliative Care.
Each charity got $21,000 and organizers said they've raised over $350,000 in total over the years.
Charlie Brooks with Sort 4 the Cause said she loves to see the community come out and support this event.
"All of the people who sorted... 680 teams and over 150 riders from around the northwest to raise money for Sort 4 the Cause," Brooks said.
She said next year's Sort 4 the Cause will be on the 3rd Saturday in June and they hope to continue to raise even more money.
Sort 4 the Cause also wanted to thank it’s sponsors; Dan & Sue Martinez, City of Sunnyside, CLS Farms, Marc Desmarais Farms, Jason Robinson, Veldhuis Dairy, Margaret Weber and Horse Heaven Cattle Feeders.
