6-year-old hero in Union Gap

UNION GAP, Wash. -- A local boy is being hailed a hero Monday evening.

Union Gap honored Michael Johnston, a six-year-old boy who saved his younger brother from drowning.

Michael's brother had slipped out of his life vest and gone back into the pool without anyone noticing.

He noticed his brother was struggling and jumped in to scoop him up to the steps.

The adults with them then performed CPR and called 9-1-1.
