5th Annual Turkey Trot
YAKIMA, Wash.- Many locals started preparing their bodies early for Thanksgiving today by running in annual the annual Yakima Turkey Trot.
Each family donated at least one canned good in order to enter. Kids ranging from kindergartners up to fifth graders raced to help a greater cause, and parents also participated during the final race.
"All of the parents, family members. and relatives come and support our program, and they support our community and kids. For me that's probably the most important thing is that we are helping people, but we're also getting to know our families better and being a support to our school system," said Bob Braun, Elementary P.E. Specialist at Nob Hill Elementary.
The winner of each race won a turkey as the grand prize. All of the canned goods are donated to Union Gospel Mission Church.
