200-acre fire burning east of Ellensburg

ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- The Washington Department of Natural Resources says firefighters are on scene at a wildfire about 12 miles east of Ellensburg.

The department originally said the fire had grown to more than 500 acres, but it later lowered its estimate to 200 acres.

The Daily Record says the fire is burning Tuesday near a wind farm in the Vantage area. Several miles of the Vantage Highway are closed.

There is no word on the cause of the fire or whether any homes are threatened.
