Union Gap police investigate two recent food mart robberies

UNION GAP, Wash. - Police in Union Gap are trying to figure out whether or not a local food mart robbery is related to the Airline Market robbery from the previous day.

Reports from the Union Gap Police Department (UGPD) said two men wearing hoods and bandanas over their faces went inside the Ahtanum Food Mart around 9:20 p.m., April 14 and held the clerk at gunpoint.

One suspect was carrying a pistol while the other was armed with an AR style rifle as they stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the clerk and the register, police said.

Witnesses described the two suspects as male, one being heavier set and the other with a thinner build.

Police officials are unsure if the robbery is connected to a similar robbery that occurred April 13 at the Airline Market in Union Gap, but said detectives are investigating both incidents.

UGPD is asking anyone with information to contact detectives at (509)248-0430.
